FAQ 2: CAN SOAP BE USED AS SHAMPOO?

Any ilo ORGANICS soap can be used to shampoo and condition the hair in one easy step - but we highly recommend using ‘coci’ organic soap for this
purpose. The soaps will gently cleanse and condition the hair, and nurture it with the beneficial qualities of the plant oils.

Prior to using the soap on your hair, we recommend that the hair is rinsed well first with a 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts water wash (200 ml vinegar : 800ml water = 1lt) - to remove any chemical build-up derived from the use of commercial hair products. Commercial shampoos are a detergent/petrochemical based product.

Commercial conditioners impart a waxy build-up on the hair shaft. Gently work the soap over the hair to create a soft lather. Within a couple of washes, your hair will have settled into a natural, chemical-free condition. The vinegar rinse can be repeated after cleansing, to act as a hair smoothing agent.

FAQ 3: CAN SOAP BE USED AS A SHAVING LATHER?

A dense, moisturising lather for shaving can be achieved using ilo ORGANICS ‘coci’ organic soap. In fact, we have a large number of male customers that buy our 'coci' soap specifically for this purpose.

FAQ 4: CAN SOAP BE USED AS A WOOL WASH?

A gentle wash for wool and delicate fabrics (such as antique lace and linen) can be achieved by using ilo ORGANICS ‘oli’ organic soap. Olive oil creates one of the gentlest soaps available.

We suggest that you place the soap in a stocking, and swirl it around in lukewarm water to create a soapy bath in a tub or bucket. Immerse the item in the bath, and
gently move it through the soapy water. Gently squeeze out the soapy water, and rinse the item in lukewarm water only until the water is clear. A drop or two of
eucalyptus oil can be added to the rinsing bath if desired. Again, gently squeeze out the water, and lay the item flat for drying - out of direct sunlight.

FAQ 5: IS SOAP AN EFFECTIVE STAIN REMOVER?

The high natural glycerine content of any ilo ORGANICS soap makes them ideal for use as a pre-wash, stain remover for organically based stains. Just moisten the stain, and rub over with the soap - working it into the stain, and leave it to rest for at least 30 minutes (preferably overnight) prior to adding the item to your wash-load.

FAQ 6: CAN SOAP BE USED AS A HAND DEODORISER?

Our ilo ORGANICS 'cofi' soap makes the perfect odour remover. The ground coffee beans and brewed espresso coffee content makes ilo ORGANICS ‘cofi’ soap ideal as a scrub to remove odours from the hands. It is perfect for use by the gardener, angler or trades-person, and handy in the kitchen to remove food odours, such as onion smells from the hands.
